Natural and synthetic flavours

Sometimes the terms can be confusing. What is a flavouring and what can it mean?

• Natural flavourings are made from extracts. Extracts are made by placing a raw material in alcohol and water – this extracts elements from the raw material into the liquid mixture. Nothing else should be added to an extract for it to be a pure extract. are not further chemically modified or changed. An example is vanilla extract.
• Natural identical flavourings are substances that are chemically identical to natural substances, but which are obtained by chemical processes or by chemical modification of other natural substances. An example is vanillin, which is identical to the vanillin in vanilla, but not obtained from vanilla pods.
• Artificial (or synthetic) flavourings are substances obtained by chemical synthesis or chemical modification of natural substances, but which are not present in natural products.

With consumption of synthetic flavours there are many health risks involved. From brain tumors, cancer, dizziness, nausea, kidney problems, mental confusion to depression, allergies, fatigue, anxiety attacks… Our nature has been polluted with genetically modified plants, chemicals, pesticides and so have our bodies. Try to avoid artificial flavours as much as you can.

Vapenatura flavours are 100% natural, without any sugar or other harmful substances added. They have propylene glycol as a carrier (the only other flavor carrier is oil, so if you do not like PG, you have to choose essential oil – not suitable for vaping!). We are not implying that propylene glycol is a natural carrier; only our aromas are natural, made from fruits and food.

Most of our flavours do not contain alcohol. Some of them do, like lemon, because is the only way to preserve some flavours in terms of stability and shelf life. But that is the only “natural” additive, which evaporates once the bottle is opened. All ingredients are listed on the label.

Cosmetics and aromatherapy: for cosmetic and aromatherapy use the flavours have to be 100% without any sweeteners and sugars. Our aromas are suitable for those who have an allergic reaction to essential oils. Although they are prepared in propylene glycol, the cosmetic is still considereted  natural if it contains at least 95% of natural compounds. Therefore, a couple of drops of our Vapenatura flavour will make your cosmetics smell like nature without creating an allergic reaction on your skin. A good recipe is for example a deodorant from coconut oil and sodium bicarbonate. Usually people add essential oil (like tea tree oil) to their deodorant. However, for some people and their sensitive skin that is impossible. So just add a couple of drops of Peppermint, which has antiseptic properties and you are good to go. The good side of natural flavours in propylene glycol is also that they dissolve in oil and water, so there will be no separation that happens when we use essential oils. You can use just olive oil and add a couple of drops of flavor and you have a very rich and nice smelling body oil. Also for aromatherapy, you can use Vapenatura flavours in diffusers that are cheaper and not suitable for essential oils. Also some essential oils could cause headache (because they are so strong). Try our natural flavours instead.

Vaping: sometimes vapers are not used to natural flavourings because they are not so sweet. Natural flavourings are made from extracts so the sweetness depends on the extract. At Vapenatura we decided not to add any sugars and sweeteners but to offer our clients a possibility to sweeten their mix by themselves as they wish. We offer stevia natural sweetener, as well as xylitol. We do not add any ethyl maltol that is an essential ingredient in most aromas and e-liquids on the market. Cleaning, washing… Another way of using Vapenatura flavours is when making homemade cleaners for your home or for your clothes. When making homemade fabric softener, you can add a couple of drops of Vapenatura flavor. You can also mix sodium bicarbonate, salt and acid citric, add a few drops of lemon flavor and make yourself homemade tablets for your dishwasher. Same thing with liquid detergent. There are many possible uses of Vapenatura flavours, use your imagination.

Food: all of our Vapenatura flavours are edible and can be used in food production. Do you want to make a special cocktail with strawberry flavor?
